Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli will be out for “a few weeks” with a knee injury, boss Mauricio Pochettino says.
The 20-year-old was left out of the squad to play Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, and the injury means he will also miss England’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland and the friendly with Spain.
“He twisted his knee in a clash with a team-mate,” Pochettino said.
“I hope it is not a big issue, it’s bad luck, he’s an important player for us.”
England play at home to Scotland in a World Cup 2018 qualifier on Friday, before taking on Spain in a friendly on the following Tuesday. Both games are at Wembley.
“He will be out for a few weeks. We need to asses him today, tomorrow,” Pochettino added.
“That is football and sometimes it happens.”
