South Korea has prepared a preemptive strike plan to obliterate the North Korean capital Pyongyang through intensive bombing in case the North shows any signs of launching a nuclear attack, Yonhap News Agency reported Sunday, quoting a military source in Seoul.

The disclosure comes two days after the North carried out its fifth nuclear test in continued defiance of U.N. resolutions.

Under the operational concept, reported by the Defense Ministry to the National Assembly following the latest test, preemptive bombing attacks will be launched on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and the country’s military leadership if signs of their impending use of nuclear weapons are detected or in the event of a war, the source told Yonhap Sunday.
