England’s Paul Casey was three shots behind leader Scott Piercy when play was suspended in the second round of the Safeway Open in Napa, California.
Heavy rain prevented play for more than two and a half hours, before the round was halted early because of darkness.
Casey was 11 under after 12 holes, and American Piercy carded an eagle on the ninth to lead by two shots after 12.
Scotland’s Martin Laird is six under after eight with the second round to resume at 15:45 BST on Saturday.
American Bill Haas is the clubhouse leader on eight under par, while five-time major winner Phil Mickelson carded a successive round of 69 to sit on six under.
